FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. What is NatureSeal and how can it improve the shelf-life?

NatureSeal is a patented blend of GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) vitamins and minerals that extend the shelf life of fresh-cut produce up to 21 days.  By inhibiting respiration and the oxidation process, fresh-cut produce can last longer on the shelf.

2. Which aspects of shelf-life extension does NatureSeal protect?

NatureSeal protects the natural taste, texture and color.

3. What produce items can be treated with NatureSeal?

The NatureSeal family of products have expanded to include a wide variety of fresh-cut fruit and vegetables.

Please see the application sheets (Foodservice or Processors) for a detailed list or contact us direct.

4. What effect, if any, do our NatureSeal products have on microbial growth?

Microbial growth is a function of the overall sanitary conditions of the processing plant and the microbial load of the whole fruit or vegetable. NatureSeal does not control microbial growth. Testing shows that a slowing of the microbial growth is somewhat achieved but not significant.

5. Do I need Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) to achieve the extended shelf life benefits?

You have a wide choice of packaging, which would be acceptable when using NatureSeal. Simple 2-4 mil PE bags are generally acceptable.

6. How are NatureSeal products applied?

.The cut produce is either dipped or sprayed with the NatureSeal solution.

7. Does NatureSeal affect the taste, texture or color of fresh-cut produce?

No, NatureSeal maintains the natural taste, texture and color of fresh-cut produce.

8. How is NatureSeal packaged and what is the shelf life?

NatureSeal comes in a dry form, a powdered blend of vitamins and minerals. The package, if properly stored away from excess light or moisture, will last from 1 to 3 years depending on the specific product.

9. How much should the concentration of NatureSeal be per gallons of my tank or lbs. of product?

Quantities of NatureSeal vary depending upon the size of your tank and the type of produce treated. Please contact us for further assistance.

10. Which factors affect the results of NatureSeal?

Produce variety and whole fruit quality has a major impact on performance. One needs to start with quality fruit in order to yield quality cut fruit.
